The D’Antan armchair wins the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award

We are pleased to announce that the international jury of the 29th ADI Compasso d’Oro Award has honoured D’Antan armchair, design Raffaella Mangiarotti, with the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Award. With this award, D’Antan becomes part of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Historical Collection, a heritage of exceptional artistic and historical significance dedicated to Italian design. The award ceremony took place on 22 May 2026 at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. The narrative strength of the D’Antan armchair emerges from the dialogue between the refinement of its materials and the rigour of its lines. Generous in proportion and broad in its seating, the armchair is defined by a solid dark ash frame upholstered in dark-brown leather, with a substantial backrest that widens at shoulder height and a small leather cushion designed to support the head.

Two curved crosspieces, positioned at head level and beneath the hollow of the legs, enhance the sense of comfort, further complemented by a matching footrest in the same finishes. Visually light and easily foldable, the structure also makes D’Antan practical to move and transport. A design that interprets comfort through balance, materiality and constructional precision, combining aesthetic quality and functionality in a contemporary form.
